Training the Trainer

On December 6, 2006, UPCPHP and the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) partnered to train seven Pennsylvania school nurses to deliver NASN’s Disaster Preparedness for School Nurses curriculum. As a result of this training, Pennsylvania now has a cadre of school nurse trainers who can be deployed to deliver Disaster Preparedness for School Nurses across the Commonwealth and the United States. These seven new trainers will help UPCPHP continue to provide state-of-the-art training for school nurses across Pennsylvania.

The University of Pittsburgh Center for Public Health Preparedness (UPCPHP) trains public health professionals, including professionals in related organizations, to respond to bioterrorism, infectious disease outbreaks, and other public health threats and emergencies. Housed in the Center for Public Health Practice at the Graduate School of Public Health, UPCPHP is a project of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through cooperative agreement number U90/CCU324238.
